Mountain Rescue Experience Day 9th September 2018

BSARU 'bares all' again for our annual fund raising event at the Watch Water reservoir in the beautiful Lammermuirs - with our new Young Person's Challenge.

Mountain Rescue Experience Day 9th September 2018

MR Experience Day

Border Search And Rescue Unit’s Mountain Rescue Experience Day is a chance to meet the team, find out about what we do and take part in the Watchwater Rescuer Challenge. All monies raised will go towards supporting the team in providing a free emergency service to all hillwalkers and members of the local community who need it.

The Day will be based at the Watchwater Reservoir, near Longformacus, in the beautiful Lammermuir Hills. See here for a location map.

The Watchwater Search & Rescue Challenge

This Challenge is suitable for people of all ages and will take place along a 10-kilometre (6-mile) route in the Lammermuirs’ rolling hills. Along the walk BSARU team members will help you to complete Challenge activities, such as map and compass skills, first aid, knot tying and radio communications.

All participants who have entered by raising sponsorship will receive a free Activity Booklet for the route. This booklet will be available to purchase for £2 on the day. Everyone who completes the Challenge will receive a certificate.

The 10-kilometre route has 250 metres of ascent and, with all the activities, should take between 4 and 6 hours to complete.
