Who We Are

Border SAR is the Mountain Rescue Team that covers the south-east of Scotland, including the Lammermuir and Cheviot hill ranges. All members of the team are volunteers who are on call 24/7/365 to provide an essential emergency service, not just to hillwalkers, but to the whole community through the wide range of incidents we attend.

You can find out more about the team by exploring the website or catching up with us at any of the regular appearances we make at ride-outs, farmers' markets etc.

Remember that BorderSAR rely heavily on public donations to exist. There are many ways you can help us: donate money, arrange sponsored events, participate in the annual sponsored walk in the Autumn, etc. If you would like to know more, simply contact us - we are always happy to hear from our supporters.

 What We Need

  • £50K for a 4x4 vehicle to replace our old Transit ambulance
  • A new team base in or near Kelso where we can store kit and vehicles and further our training programme
  • Your donations - every one will help us continue to provide our vital emergency service anytime in any weather, anywhere in our region.

 What's Happening

The Big Day Approaches!

Everything is now set up and ready for you to have a great day out with the Border Search and Rescue Unit on Sunday 20th September. There are 2 walks and 2 runs to choose from.

You can find all the information you need and how to register for the day by clicking on the Mountain Rescue Experience Day 2015 link on the left and follow the links.

Your participation will help us raise funds for our 2 priority goals of new base and vehicle.

Raise £30 or more for BSARU and get free entry to the walks or runs of your choice.

Team member Arran Smith is boldly going...

where many have been before but probably not as fast.

He will be doing the 24 Peaks Challenge to raise funds for the team.

You can support his efforts and find out more by going to our Charity Choice site here
